While making the rounds at (capsule) New York this new brand caught my eye. BARQUE, (pronounced ‘bark’), was founded in 2010 by creative director, Gilbert Chen. After years of working and studying menswear and fashion, Chen created BARQUE with the vision to create a line for men who appreciate the American aesthetic but are looking for something fresh yet traditionally inspired. In advance of (capsule) Las Vegas on Februrary 12th,  they have gave me a sneak peek of the A/W 2012 collection of these modern classics.  Most notable are the the softer silhouettes on jackets and coats and the palate of muted grays and bright blues. – M

About the new collection from creative director, Gilbert Chen:

Staying true to our brand statement – “Modern Interpretation of Classics, ” BARQUE Fall/Winter 2012 collection is inspired by classic menswear silhouettes with a modern outlook in mind.  That means, taking the classic silhouettes – re-inventing the construction with subtle detailing, and utilizing interesting and updated fabrications.   The mission is still to provide that special piece of item for the customers to mix in with the more traditional items, re-emphasizing the brand concept of “casual dress-up.”  Wool blend windowpane, breton stripe and jacquard, donegal tweed and pin-stripe wool along with newer fabrication, such as cotton/wool blend shirting, quilted terry and jacquard shirtings are used to set the undertone for the collection.
